Winter Storm Update: Record cold and fluffy snow is en-route for Sunday & Monday

Significant weather changes are headed to the area over the next 12 to 48 hours with our second winter storm of the season taking aim on the Front Range. That’s right…don’t forget we had snow seven long weeks ago! This system will pack record-setting cold for late-October as well as widespread fluffy snowfall and embedded heavy snow bands compliments of the overhead jet stream. In this winter storm update, we discuss when the snow will arrive, how much accumulation to expect, and just how cold it will get to shatter existing records.

Wintry weather returns to the Front Range Thursday evening, more to come this weekend

Winter weather is right around the corner for northern Colorado with two storm systems set to impact the area in the coming days. The first will produce freezing drizzle and light snow Thursday night, while the second will usher in bitter cold temperatures and accumulating snow for Sunday and Monday. We discuss both storms and give our initial thoughts on potential snowfall accumulations for the weekend.

This week in Colorado weather: October 19, 2020

After an eventful weekend with two new wildfires igniting in Boulder County, the weather will become slightly less favorable for fire growth through the week in the higher terrain. Across the Plains, it will be mainly dry this week, but there are changes queuing up for the late-week period into the weekend including the potential for our first snowfall since early September!

This week in Colorado weather: October 12, 2020

Despite the progressive cold front on Sunday which brought strong winds, dangerous fire conditions, Mountain snow, and even a dust storm to some portions of the eastern Plains, we will see a nice rebound in our temperatures immediately to start the week. However, a stronger cold front will arrive later in the week leading to chilly temperatures . It is looking like another dry week as well, with any precipitation chances holding off until sometime next week.
