Day after day, smoke‑laden skies from both distant and eventually in‑state wildfires muted visibility and degraded air quality, a stark reminder of how the West’s exceptionally warm, snow‑deficient winter is now echoing across the region in the form of early‑season fire activity and persistent haze.

Drought Update
Colorado remains deeply entrenched in drought.
The Front Range largely stayed unchanged in drought status through the month, except Larimer County which saw one category of degradation following a wet May there. The northeast corner of the state saw improvement after receiving repeated rounds of soaking thunderstorms throughout June.
