We provide a brief status update on the largest and most impactful wildfires burning across Colorado as of Tuesday June 30, 2026 at 9AM.
⚠️ NOTE: All fires are expected to see continued growth Tuesday with escalating Red Flag conditions. Fire danger and growth will remain a major concern through at least Friday due to persistently warm, dry and windy atmospheric conditions.
Snyder Fire — 30,200 acres, 0% contained
Started Saturday. Currently the state’s largest active fire. Roughly 20 miles west of Grand Junction. Technically ignited in Utah and merged with another Utah fire before crossing into Colorado. Sadly claimed the lives of three firefighters with its explosive growth over the weekend. Burning in a relatively remote area of scrub forest over mesas and canyons.
Aspen Acres Fire — 22,800+ acres, 0% contained
Started Monday morning ~15 miles west of Colorado City in S Colorado. Lots of structures lost. Town of Beulah has so far been spared but evacuated. Expecting big growth again today.
Ferris Fire — 19,600 acres, 0% contained
Started Saturday. Burning in remote terrain north of Cortez within the San Juan Mountains. Has merged with another nearby fire. Slower growth Monday allowed for firefighters to put in some decent fire lines but no containment yet.
Gold Mountain Fire — 8,300 acres, 0% contained
Started Saturday just north of Ouray along a highway. Doubled in size Monday and is burning mostly away from town into sparsely populated steep mountain terrain.
Willow Fire — 1,900 acres, 0% contained
Started Sunday west of Leadville. Exploded to over 1,000 acres within hours. Leadville currently under pre-evac notice.
Sheep Head Fire — 1,200 acres, 30% contained
Started Monday afternoon about 20 miles west of Walsenburg. This is a fairly remote area.
