We concluded the already very snowy and cold month of November with even more snow and cold on Tuesday. A brief period of moderate to heavy snow led to a slick morning commute in many areas, with some of the coldest air of the season filtering in as the snow cleared out. This Week in Colorado Weather: November 21, 2022

It will be a rather quiet Thanksgiving week overall with dry conditions and temperatures remaining near or slightly below normal through Thursday. Beyond the holiday, a strong ridge will build into the area with warmer weather on the way for Black Friday. No precipitation is expected this week outside of light snow in the Mountains. Storm Recap: Long-duration light snowfall led to nearly a foot of fluff along the base of the Foothills

Snow began earlier that expected Thursday morning making for three consecutive tricky commutes across the Denver Metro area. Light snow continued almost continuously for 24 hours leading to a slow but steady accumulation reaching several inches of snow across the Front Range, with up to a foot in some upslope-favored locations. Let’s take a look at the snow totals and the beautiful weather that lies ahead for the weekend.

Winter Weather Update: Arctic chill and upslope-driven snow will engulf the area Thursday into Friday (Updated)

After the surprising minor wallop of snow earlier this week and a brief reprieve on Wednesday, things turn wintry again quickly Thursday into Friday as an Arctic cold front blasts across the Front Range. Shallow but prolonged upslope will produce a period of light, fluffy snow accompanied by bitter cold temperatures. The area in and around Boulder is most favored during this event. In this winter weather update, we discuss the timing of when snow starts and stops, how much snow to expect, which commutes will be impacted most, and just how cold it will get.

This week’s weather across the Front Range will be almost a carbon copy of last week. That is, dry and mild conditions holding through Wednesday before much colder temperatures and snow arrive on Thursday.
