September 2022 followed the trend of the rest of the summer as another hot and somewhat dry month across the Front Range. The month entertained one of the longest and most intense heatwaves for so late in the season. Rainfall was below normal and there was no snow during the month. Smoke from out of state wildfires was also a theme at times. Here’s a quick and colorful graphical recap of our weather during September and how it relates to climatology.

🔥💨Smoke will be on the increase the next few days in Colorado from large fires burning across the PNW. This lofted smoke will have a cooling effect as it scatters & absorbs the sun's rays. Sadly, it doesn't look to be enough to prevent record highs from being shattered #COwx pic.twitter.com/DpszlQsBxZ

Ironically #Boulder reported 0.91" yesterday which came ever-so-close to breaking the city's daily precipitation record for September 10th. The existing record was 1.02" set on the very first day of the week-long 2013 Flood 🌊: https://t.co/WpwSgEqhMy #COwx #2013ColoradoFlood
