November 2023 Graphical Weather Review: A little Turkey Day snow, but otherwise exceptionally warm & dry

November 2023 was yet another warm and dry month in Boulder with just one medium-sized snowfall event to speak of —- that occurred the day after Thanksgiving. Despite the relatively parched last few months, officially drought has not yet returned to the Front Range. Forecast Update: Intense downslope winds up to 90 MPH in/near the Foothills on Thursday, light snow & cold inbound for Friday (Updated)

A dangerous downslope windstorm is about to unfold in the Foothills to the west on Thursday with gusts up to 90 MPH. It will be warm and gusty across the lower elevations as well, with a chance for very strong gusts in the usual windy spots like Boulder. A trough will move into the area on Friday turning our temperatures much colder with several chances for light snow. Read on as we discuss those powerful winds and the incoming snowfall.

This Week in Colorado Weather: November 27, 2023

After the holiday cold and dumping of snow, temperatures this week will trend back above normal by midweek with low to perhaps middle 50s taking hold.  A cold front moves south late Wednesday into Thursday, with temperatures then falling back below average to close out the week. While chances of precipitation appear limited at this point, we do have to keep our eye on two potential systems late in the week and into the weekend. Read on for more details.

Winter Weather Update: Snow arrives late Thanksgiving Day into Friday, heaviest in Boulder and the Foothills

The day of giving thanks and eating delicious food is nearly upon us, and whether you are ready or not, so too are the snowflakes which will make a return to the entire Front Range beginning Thursday afternoon and evening with snowflakes staying in the forecast into Saturday. Temperatures will also plummet well below freezing the next few days. We discuss the timing of the snow, the expected snowfall totals for everyone and when travel may be most impacted.

Update (Thu 11/23 7AM): Ensembles have cut back on snow amounts by about 20%, so we’ve decreased snow amounts accordingly. The biggest snow totals from this storm are still expected to be around Boulder, with much lower impacts elsewhere in the Metro area.

This Week in Colorado Weather: November 13, 2023

A quiet and mild weather pattern will be in place this week. Highs will largely be in the mid to upper 60s with a fair amount of sunshine most days. A late-week cold front Thursday into Friday will initially bring fire danger to the area followed by a slight drop in temperatures. We are watching a closed upper-low which could impact the state over the upcoming weekend with rain/snow showers in tow, but model uncertainty remains. Read on for more details.
