This week in Colorado weather: October 25, 2021

An impressive atmospheric river event currently hammering California moves onshore this week leading to gusty winds as well as rain and snow for Colorado Tuesday through Wednesday. Prior to that, warmth will abound to start the week with perhaps one final 80-degree day in the works. A quieter patten takes shape for the late week period and upcoming weekend which should make for excellent holiday activities.

A second chance at our first snow: A cold but quick system is gearing up for Thursday

After a lull in the weather on Wednesday, the action picks up quickly again on Thursday with the arrival of a swift-moving but ultimately weak storm system that will bring another round of rain and snow to the Front Range. We discuss which areas are favored this time around to potentially see their first snow of the season and detail when widespread freezing temperatures will arrive.

This week in Colorado weather: October 11, 2021

An active weather pattern is in store this week as two wintry storm systems take aim on the region. The first one arrives Tuesday with a second following up on Thursday. Both systems will provide impacts for the Mountains and Plains in terms of precipitation, gusty winds, and colder temperatures, but it appears the second one will offer the better chance for the first accumulating snow event in the Boulder-Denver area. Yes, the first snow of the season is possible in Boulder & Denver next week

Things are about to get interesting for Colorado as our weather finally starts to take a turn away from never-ending summer. The weekend ahead will see the polar jet stream dip southward with strong winds and bouts of Mountain snow.  The main event, however, will arrive Tuesday into Wednesday of next week when the atmosphere could align to produce the first snow of the season for many Front Range locations. While uncertainty is still quite high with the incoming winter storm, we discuss the latest forecast details and what to expect heading into next week.

September 2021 Weather Review: A dry month where scorching heat actually overshadowed the smoke

September 2021 will go down as one of the overall hottest on record for the Front Range, and not much more. Other weather highlights during the month included a multi-day late-summer heatwave, continued smoky skies from the California wildfires, the first snow for many Mountain locations, dismal precipitation for much of the state, and one measly day that could pass for autumn. This week in Colorado weather: October 4, 2021

Despite an active pattern across the country, this week will be yet another warm and dry one for the Front Range as Mother Nature continues to focus attention on other parts of the nation with the most impactful weather. Highs throughout the week will be above average with only miniscule chances of rain in the Denver area. However, things will become more unsettled for the upcoming weekend with early signs of substantially colder weather taking hold next week and potential freezing temperatures.
