This week in Colorado weather: November 8, 2021

After an unseasonably warm weekend across the Front Range, this week starts and ends with seasonal to below normal temperatures. A series of cold fronts will traverse through our area as a storm system strengthens over the midsection of the country. This pattern will favor snow for the higher terrain mid to late-week, but just dry, breezy, and chilly conditions for the Plains. Denver and Boulder are both rapidly approaching record territory for the latest first snow.

The week kicks off with cold and unsettled conditions lingering across the Front Range. A combination of chilly upslope and the nearby jet stream will produce scattered rain and snow showers for the entire region with a chance some areas could see minor snow accumulations. After a wave of heavier Mountain snow on Tuesday, things begin to quiet down and warm up midweek and beyond. Happy Friday! It sure is gorgeous out there today. Change is coming however as the weather pattern is set to shift just in time for Halloween and the end of the month. An impressive atmospheric river event currently hammering California moves onshore this week leading to gusty winds as well as rain and snow for Colorado Tuesday through Wednesday. Prior to that, warmth will abound to start the week with perhaps one final 80-degree day in the works. A quieter patten takes shape for the late week period and upcoming weekend which should make for excellent holiday activities.

A second chance at our first snow: A cold but quick system is gearing up for Thursday

An active weather pattern is in store this week as two wintry storm systems take aim on the region. The first one arrives Tuesday with a second following up on Thursday. Both systems will provide impacts for the Mountains and Plains in terms of precipitation, gusty winds, and colder temperatures, but it appears the second one will offer the better chance for the first accumulating snow event in the Boulder-Denver area.
