This week in Colorado weather: November 29, 2021

The entire upcoming week will feature well above average temperatures across the Front Range with several days of record highs up for grabs. There will be a couple of “cool-downs” behind dry cold fronts but temperatures will still remain above seasonal normals on those days as well. While the upcoming week is expected to be totally dry, there are some hints of a return to a more active and unsettled pattern next week. We’ll discuss this and more in our weekly outlook so read on!

This week in Colorado weather: November 22, 2021

Warm weather and sunshine will start out our holiday week as temperatures reach comfortably into the 60’s. A strong cold front will usher in much colder temperatures around midweek, along with a slight chance of snow. Early indications are that Thanksgiving will be seasonal and dry. A gradual warming trend is in-store for the latter half of the week and into the weekend with no major storm systems anywhere to be found in the pipeline.

Boulder underwhelmingly reported its first snowfall of the season last night, tying 2016 for the latest on record

The saga for our first measurable snowfall of the season is finally over, in Boulder at least. In a rather uninspiring fashion, the city reported its first official snowfall early Wednesday morning before sunrise. Let’s review how it happened, check in how this fits in with climatology, and congratulate the winners of our 2021 First Snow Contest!

October 2021 Weather Review: Drought returns after one of Boulder’s all-time driest Octobers

October 2021 was extremely dry for all of eastern Colorado and drought has exploded once again across the region. Other notable highlights during the month include the return of La Niña for a second winter in a row, magnificent fall colors, a drizzly Halloween, and the lack of any accumulating snowfall yet in Boulder or Denver. This week in Colorado weather: November 8, 2021

After an unseasonably warm weekend across the Front Range, this week starts and ends with seasonal to below normal temperatures. A series of cold fronts will traverse through our area as a storm system strengthens over the midsection of the country. This pattern will favor snow for the higher terrain mid to late-week, but just dry, breezy, and chilly conditions for the Plains. Denver and Boulder are both rapidly approaching record territory for the latest first snow.
