This Week in Colorado Weather: September 5, 2022

The ongoing brutal heatwave will continue for Labor Day and through the first full week of September. A strong and anomalous ridge parks itself over the Utah region through Thursday resulting in hot and dry weather in the 90s across the Denver area. Record highs are likely under this setup and we may even see some triple digits at times as well. The light at the end of the tunnel is a welcomed cold front currently scheduled to arrive on Friday.

This Week in Colorado Weather: August 29, 2022

After a couple cooler weeks, a new ridge of high pressure will form over Utah and dominate the extended forecast across the Front Range leading to a lengthy stretch of 90-degree days accompanied by little to no rainfall. The upcoming Labor Day weekend looks pretty nice across the area as the warmth continues but with some storms popping up in the Mountains. Let’s take a look at the weather week ahead.

This Week in Colorado Weather: August 22, 2022

Drier weather takes hold for most of the Front Range through about midweek as high pressure and reduced moisture move in. The latter half of the week will feature an uptick in storm chances with a series of disturbances moving into the area. Temperatures will largely stay close to normal in the 80s as monsoon season comes to an end for northeast Colorado. Read on for more details.

Monsoon Update: Heavy rainfall earlier this week put a dent in the drought as monsoon season nears completion

After several dry summers in a row, the 2022 monsoon season has been a breath of fresh air for most of the Front Range, thanks mainly to the recent soggy weather culminating in localized flash flooding earlier this week.  As monsoon season begins to wind down across Colorado, we discuss the recent and seasonal rainfall totals, why this year’s monsoon has been atypical, and how climate change may impact future monsoons.

This week in Colorado weather: August 8, 2022

After a soggy Sunday, the weekly outlook turns much drier as a strong ridge of high pressure will dominate Colorado through at least Thursday. The hottest days ahead, likely landing in the mid to even upper 90s, are favored towards the end of the week. Monsoonal moisture looks to return by the weekend with a better chance of much-needed storms in tow.

This week in Colorado weather: August 1, 2022

If you enjoyed the hot and mostly dry weather that dominated the month of July in the Front Range, you’re going to absolutely love the first week of August! High pressure will rebuild over the area this week keeping temperatures well above normal and acting to suppress thunderstorm development most days. The best chance of rain comes on Tuesday, but we also are watching the upcoming weekend when the remnant tropical moisture from Hurricane Frank reaches the area.
