A cold northwest flow persists through the extended period which will favor well below normal temperatures all week long in the Front Range. We are watching a few shots of snow in this flow as well, with the best chance coming late in the week as upslope and potential jet-forced snow bands come together. This week’s weather across the Front Range will be almost a carbon copy of last week. That is, dry and mild conditions holding through Wednesday before much colder temperatures and snow arrive on Thursday. At this time, the snow potential appears minor at best as a huge winter storm system takes an unfavorable track directly over our area. The bigger story will be the cold temperatures it ushers in and just how long they stick around afterwards. Read on for all the details.
After a stunning weather-Wednesday, winter conditions are on the horizon again for Thursday as a big storm system moves into Colorado from the west. This one will bring much colder temperatures Thursday and widespread light to moderate snow to the area Thursday evening. Confidence is high that that most everyone will finally get their first accumulating snowfall of the season with this notably colder situation. We discuss the latest timing on the change-over to snow and provide our snowfall forecast map.

Warm temperatures will be the story through midweek in the 60s to near 70 degrees with a ridge of high pressure slowly sliding eastward, including picture-perfect conditions for Halloween evening festivities. However, the pattern shifts much colder and potentially snowy late Thursday into Friday. There remains considerable model uncertainty right now but there are definitely good chances for snow later in the week. Stay tuned and read on for more details.
The first potential accumulating snow event of the season is knocking on the door! A quick-moving system will scoot across Colorado late Wednesday night into Thursday bringing a period of precipitation to the area. Temperatures will be just cold enough for rain to change to snow across most of the Front Range and likely will accumulate on grassy surfaces a tad. Weather models remain torn on exactly how much snow will fall with this system as there are signs that some more moderate snow bands may form. We discuss the latest developments on the storm and provide our snowfall forecast map.
Following the active day of weather in Colorado on Sunday — from thunderstorm to snow to blowing dust — things quiet down to begin the week. However, it won’t remain that way for too long! Our next storm system will approach mid-week bringing a chance of rain and possibly accumulating snow to the Denver Metro area. The Mountains will likely pick up another round of powder as well. Let’s take a look at the weather week ahead for the Front Range.
The run of beautifully warm autumn days is about to end with our first major storm of the season heading towards Colorado! It will bring a slew of impactful weather Sunday into Monday, including heavy mountain snow, dangerous fire conditions, blowing dust, strong downslope winds, and a chance of the first snowflakes of the season in the Denver area.
