We’ve been tracking basic atmospheric surface parameters at BoulderCAST Station since 2015. Recently we have added a laser particle counter that monitors air quality. Read on for details on how air quality is measured, why it matters, and where you can find the data from our sensor.
Did you know that Denver officially reported a half inch of snowfall way back on Saturday, October 6th before sunrise? Boulder’s first snow occurred four days later on October 10th. Yes, for the first time ever, Denver International Airport beat Boulder to the punch for the season’s first snowfall. We discuss how this happened and announce the winners of the 2018 First Snow Contest.

The first week of October will be busy as a series of systems trek through the state from the southwest. The first will be the remnants of Hurricane Rosa. The second will be a quick-moving cut-off system. These will lead to the chance of showers and a few thundershowers through the week. We’re also tracking unsettled weather for the weekend with both rain and snow for the state of Colorado.

Though there is officially still about one week left in summer, meteorological summer ended last weekend. We take a look back at what ended up being a warm, monsoon-deprived summer in which severe thunderstorms lessened wildfire and drought concerns.
