For the first time ever, Denver International Airport recorded snow before Boulder

Did you know that Denver officially reported a half inch of snowfall way back on Saturday, October 6th before sunrise? Boulder’s first snow occurred four days later on October 10th. Yes, for the first time ever, Denver International Airport beat Boulder to the punch for the season’s first snowfall. This week in weather: October 1, 2018

The first week of October will be busy as a series of systems trek through the state from the southwest. The first will be the remnants of Hurricane Rosa. The second will be a quick-moving cut-off system. These will lead to the chance of showers and a few thundershowers through the week. We’re also tracking unsettled weather for the weekend with both rain and snow for the state of Colorado.

This is why Colorado’s historically warm summer has cooled off

Not long ago, 2018 was in the running with 2012 for the hottest summer on record for many Front Range cities. However, a subtle but crucial pattern shift has kept our temperatures on the cool side for the last three weeks, knocking this summer back to a status closer to normal.
