This Week in Colorado Weather: October 23, 2023

Change is on the way! Unseasonably warm temperatures will continue across the Front Range for a few more days leading up to a significant pattern shift later this week.  A series of cold fronts will impact the area in the days to come, knocking our high temperatures from the 80s on Monday into the 40s by Friday, though precipitation looks scant during this timeframe. However, the first Arctic blast of the season is taking shape for the upcoming weekend with temperatures set to plummet further alongside our first potential snowfall of the season. It’s about time!

This Week in Colorado Weather: October 16, 2023

The week ahead will usher in persistent unseasonable warmth and sunshine to Front Range Colorado. There’s a better chance of setting record high temperatures this week than there will be to see any kind of precipitation. We are watching a couple of cold fronts, but they will be the dry variety with temperatures not even dropping below normal on their backside. Upper-level ridging will continue to push in from the West Coast for the weekend keeping things pleasant and dry through at least Sunday for our area. As you might imagine, there’s no chance of snow or additional sub-freezing temperatures in the pipeline.

This Week in Colorado Weather: October 9, 2023

All is quiet to kick off the week in the Front Range with high pressure in place across the Rockies. Temperatures will start out close to 80 degrees Monday and Tuesday but that won’t last long. All eyes are on a potent autumn storm system moving in from the Pacific Northwest later this week. Model uncertainty is somewhat high in regards to the storm’s track, but consensus currently would indicate a decent chance of rain in the Denver Metro area with snow possible along the Wyoming border and in our nearby Mountains. Things could certainly change as we get closer though. Either way, it will be a colder end to the week with the first freeze of the season possible Friday and/or Saturday mornings.

This Week in Colorado Weather: October 2, 2023

A strong trough will impact our region to start the first few days of the week bringing the threat of showers and even a few severe storms. A strong cold frontal passage will bring high temperatures below normal by midweek down into the 60s — a true taste of autumn which many of you have been asking for. As the system departs,  dry northwest flow will ensue late-week which will promote continued cool temperatures but also lots of sunshine. Read on for more details.

This Week in Colorado Weather: September 25, 2023

Another boring week of weather is set to unfold across the Front Range as Colorado remains trapped in a dry and stagnant weather pattern. Sunshine and unseasonable warmth will be the story this week across the area as a result. While there was some potential for things to change this upcoming weekend, that no longer appears to be the case. There’s no rain (or snow) anywhere in pipeline — heck there’s barely any clouds! Let’s take a look…

This Week in Colorado Weather: September 18, 2023

The weather week ahead in Colorado will initially be focused on a series of weak shortwaves tracking from west to east across the state. A more potent trough will develop later in the week but uncertainty lies in its overall track and moisture availability this far out. Together these systems will lead to low-end chances of showers and storms each day this week, although most of us will see more dry time than not. As for temperatures, they will mostly hover a few degrees above normal in the lower 80s each day — a fitting end to the summer season which wraps up on Friday!

This Week in Colorado Weather: September 11, 2023

The dog-days of summer are squarely behind us as cool and unsettled weather continue across the Front Range this week. Though things will dry out briefly Monday and Tuesday, soggy conditions quickly return as a Pacific trough slowly rakes across the region later in the week. Up to 1″ of rainfall is projected by week’s end along with some of the coldest temperatures we’ve seen in many moons. Let’s take a look!

This Week in Colorado Weather: September 4, 2023

On this first full week of September, an overall dry pattern will exist across the Front Range with plenty of sunshine to go around. The best chance of storms will be during this Labor Day with a strong cold front moving east, though we suspect almost all of the action will be well north of the Denver Metro area. Tuesday will see temperatures drop pleasantly into the 70s behind a cold front, but it will be a short reprieve as above normal temperatures regain control in the days to follow.
