As of Monday morning, thick smoke from numerous large wildfires blankets the Front Range and this will remain the case through much of the week ahead. There will be some improvement in the smoke as monsoonal moisture returns in the coming days alongside late-day storm chances. Let’s run through the weather of the next ten days or so for the Denver Metro area.
This week will feature a rollercoaster ride in temperatures from heat to more seasonal temperatures to even below normal conditions. The best chance of storms will be early in the week with flash flooding possible in the burn scars. Drier weather follows in the extended, however. Which days will be our hottest and coldest in the days ahead? Read on to find out!
This week will feature a continuation of the dangerous, unprecedented heatwave in the Pacific Northwest, but cool and rainy weather in the Front Range. Go figure! Our temperatures will remain below normal through the week with daily chances for showers and thunderstorms, helping to alleviate but not remove wildfire concerns across the state. We also discuss the status of monsoon season, the active tropical eastern Pacific, and what may lie ahead for the Fourth of July weekend.
Unseasonably cool temperatures will exist on Monday following a cold front and upslope flow. However, the heat and smoke return on Tuesday and will stay with us most of the week ahead. We’re also watching the potential for a much-needed wet conclusion to the week.
The heat is on this week as an anomalous ridge of high pressure dominates our weather pattern. Temperatures will soar into the upper 90’s to low 100’s most of the week, but a cooldown is in the pipeline. The week kicks off with isolated storms, but rain chances lessen considerably as the week progresses. Our temperatures will largely rise into the 90’s every day, but a late-week cold front will take the edge of the heat. Following the long, cold and gloomy holiday weekend, our weather improves considerably in the coming days. Temperatures will warm back above average and may even approach 90 degrees for the first time in 2021. After a few dry days, subtropical moisture is expected to surge into Colorado during the upcoming weekend bringing the return of wet weather to the region.
