This Week in Colorado Weather: February 12, 2024

After our second snowy weekend in a row, things will stay quiet across the Front Range for much of the upcoming week with seasonal temperatures and lots of sunshine. However, that will change late-week as a quick-hitting Arctic cold front will surge south across the area. This front will likely be accompanied by at least a little bit of wintry precipitation, but the cold won’t stick around long at all. We also look ahead to several more devastating atmospheric river events set to slam California — their remnant moisture will likely spread into our Mountains to further bolster statewide snowpack. Read on for all the details.

This Week in Colorado Weather: February 5, 2024

The first week of February starts off dry and mild as high pressure ridging and downslope flow will develop across the Front Range helping to chip away at the fresh, sloppy snowpack. A midweek system will favor mode cloud cover and winds, along with a low-end chance of rain or snow, though these will mostly be confined to the higher terrain. A better chance of snow and colder temperatures appears to come Friday or Saturday with most guidance suggesting a favorable storm track for our area. Read on as we discuss this and more in our weekly outlook.

We got our first taste of 60-degrees in the New Year on Sunday and those sixties will continue through much of the week ahead as high pressure dominates our weather. With the Great Arctic Blast of 2024 starting to wrap up across Front Range Colorado, the weather week ahead will be comparatively less eventful. However, there are multiple disturbances lined up in the coming days which will bring waves of moderate to heavy snow in the Mountains as well as a small chance of wintry precipitation to the Metro area. A thawing trend will ensue in the coming days, but temperatures won’t get back above normal until late in the weekend or early next week.

This Week in Colorado Weather: January 8, 2024

Breezy conditions and chilly temperatures will kick off the week behind a departing winter storm which brought a thin blanket of snow to the Metro area last night. This Week in Colorado Weather: January 2, 2024

El Niño has yet to deliver any major storms to the Front Range this winter season but that could change heading into the first week or two of January as a more active southern storm track takes shape across western North America. Several systems will bring snow to Colorado, though the focus appears to be across the southern tier of the state rather than the Front Range. We discuss the notably variable forecast for the week ahead including several chances for snow in the extended.

However, blizzard conditions are set to unfold across far eastern Colorado with travel eastward becoming impossible at times Monday night into Wednesday. A trend towards drier and warmer weather is in-store for the latter part of the week and to close out 2023. Read on for the latest details.
