This Week in Colorado Weather: March 11, 2024

It will be business as usual the first two days of the week with 60-degree temperatures and dry conditions continuing. However, a major storm system will drop south into the Desert Southwest this week, with impacts expected in the Front Range Wednesday through Friday. All signs point to a significant dumping of upslope precipitation in our area from this storm, most of which will fall as heavy wet snow. There’s still a lot of uncertainty in this week’s forecast, but let’s discuss the latest developments in what could be a historic March winter storm for the Denver Metro area.

Mother Nature will mostly offer up seasonal temperatures and dry conditions to the Denver Metro area through midweek. There will be a few disturbances Tuesday and Wednesday embedded in the southwest flow aloft, but these will mainly impact the higher terrain. This Week in Colorado Weather: February 26, 2024

The upcoming week will offer what we consider classic Front Range springtime weather with high fire danger Monday preceding a snowy system on Tuesday. The latter has more uncertainty but the former also shares in a fair bit of spread on potential rain/snow impacts. Read on as we discuss in detail our weather for the upcoming week.

This Week in Colorado Weather: February 12, 2024

After our second snowy weekend in a row, things will stay quiet across the Front Range for much of the upcoming week with seasonal temperatures and lots of sunshine. However, that will change late-week as a quick-hitting Arctic cold front will surge south across the area. This front will likely be accompanied by at least a little bit of wintry precipitation, but the cold won’t stick around long at all. We also look ahead to several more devastating atmospheric river events set to slam California — their remnant moisture will likely spread into our Mountains to further bolster statewide snowpack. Read on for all the details.

This Week in Colorado Weather: February 5, 2024

The first week of February starts off dry and mild as high pressure ridging and downslope flow will develop across the Front Range helping to chip away at the fresh, sloppy snowpack. A midweek system will favor mode cloud cover and winds, along with a low-end chance of rain or snow, though these will mostly be confined to the higher terrain. A better chance of snow and colder temperatures appears to come Friday or Saturday with most guidance suggesting a favorable storm track for our area. Read on as we discuss this and more in our weekly outlook.

This Week in Colorado Weather: January 29, 2024

We got our first taste of 60-degrees in the New Year on Sunday and those sixties will continue through much of the week ahead as high pressure dominates our weather. However, as you’ve probably heard already, a potent Pacific storm is looming in the extended with a slew of impacts expected across the Front Range during the upcoming weekend. Uncertainty is unsurprisingly quite high being six days out, but early indication does show a good chance for a significant accumulation of heavy wet snow in the Metro area following a period of rain. Read on as we discuss not only the beautifully warm and sunny weather this week, but also the cold and snowy stuff brewing for the weekend.

This week in the Front Range will be rather quiet and dry with most of the weather systems passing to our south. High temperatures will largely hover in the 40s throughout the extended — a very seasonal stretch indeed! There is some indication for a late-week snow chance but that is currently shaping up to be very minor at best. Let’s take a look…
