Born and raised in St. Louis, Andrew obtained a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from the University of Colorado in 2015. From 2015 to 2020, he worked remotely in Boulder as an atmospheric scientist with NOAA's Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory in Miami. Andy is now a full-time meteorologist.

This week in weather: September 12, 2016

After a warm final day to the weekend, one which Boulder set a record high at 92 degrees, this week is slated to turn much cooler starting this afternoon. Temperatures will be coolest on Tuesday with highs below seasonal norms and overnight lows falling Tuesday night likely into the lower 40’s on the Plains. This is all in response to a strong cold front pushing south from Wyoming. With the front also comes the chance of rain and storms but these look to be hit or miss through the week. This week in weather: August 22, 2016

After a wet end to the previous week, the weekend started out cool and concluded warm with highs approaching 90 degrees over the Plains on Sunday. This week will begin with above normal temperatures, but a cold front moving in along with subtropical moisture will increase our threat of rain and storms through the middle of the week. Once again our weekly discussion is riddled with mentions of rain, but as always, the extent and intensity for any given location remains to be seen. Read on for the full week-ahead forecast.

This week in weather: August 1, 2016

The last seven days have been quite dry across Boulder and the Denver Metro. We have also seen swings in temperature from the 90’s to the 80’s with a few frontal systems. This first week of August will start off warm in the 90’s, with a transition to cooler weather by week’s end. Wait until you see how chilly we are forecasting for Friday! This week in weather: July 18, 2016

After a very dry stretch through much of July, this week will feature a strong shift in the weather pattern that will allow for monsoonal moisture to spread in from the southwest, leading to chances for thunderstorms each day.
